OPTIONAL TESTING
AND
CERTIFICATION FOR BELT RANKING
Sensei Jay Gravelle is a certified 5th Degree Black Belt in
Shorin-Ryu Matsumura Karate & Kobudo and a member of OSMKKF, Okinawa
Shorin-Ryu Matsumura Karate & Kobudo Federation and NorthWest Budokan is a
chartered dojo.
As an added value to the Mukilteo YMCA Karate class Sensei Jay Gravelle is
offering the OPTION to obtain belt ranking in this style.
Attending classes at the YMCA does not require ranking and members
always have the right to attend the Karate/Self Defense classes.
REQUIREMENTS FOR OPTIONAL BELT RANKING:
Belt Ranking in Shorin-Ryu Matsumura Karate & Kobudo requires
membership in OSMKKF. Dues for the OSMKKF and the NorthWest Budokan is $3.00 a
month. This is payable either online at: www.NWBudokan.com or sending payment
to: NorthWest Budokan, 3631 Federal Ave., Everett, WA 98201. Membership in the
OSMKKF also gives you the right to wear the federation patches. Membership
fees cannot be paid directly to Sensei Gravelle.
Testing students must wear an all white gi (uniform) and belt for their
level while testing. New beginners are considered white belts and are normally
included with new gis. Previous patches on gis that were used in another
martial arts are acceptable and don’t need to be removed.
Testing fees must be paid prior to the date of testing and
are $25. for the first few belts. This fee includes testing, the new belt and
a large certificate from Okinawa signed by Master Fusei Kise. The certificate
from Okinawa will take 1-2 months and a temporary certificate signed by Sensei
Gravelle will be awarded on testing day. All testing fees are listed at:
www.NWBudokan.com and can be paid online or by sending payment to NorthWest
Budokan. Testing fees cannot be paid directly to Sensei Gravelle.

Testing will be held on: Saturday, January 10th at 1:30-3:00PM at:
The Mukilteo YMCA. If you are unable to attend on that date please talk
to Sensei Jay Gravelle as he will try to arrange another date.
Please relax. This is a time for celebration. Family and
friends are encouraged to come and share in your progress. Pictures and video
are always welcome.

attending the Karate/Self Defense class at the Mukilteo YMCA. I freely accept
